We need your help to ensure that Southend High School for Boys can continue to offer an outstanding education as it has done for the past 125 years. To quote the most recent Ofsted inspection in June 2024:

“The quality of education pupils experience is second to none. Pupils are challenged and supported to be their absolute best. They benefit from passionate and expert teachers who help ensure pupils consistently achieve the highest standards.”

However, as government funding has declined over the past decade, the school's per-pupil funding has reduced by 20% after inflation. Therefore we have launched the Southend High School for Boys Charitable Trust to raise essential additional regular income to ensure we may continue the school's proud 125-year tradition of excellence.

Without your help, there may be no other option than for the school to join a multi-academy trust (MAT) that would threaten its cherished traditions and ethos, and force reductions in the breadth of the curriculum, extracurricular activities, library and careers services available.

We are committed to avoiding these outcomes, and therefore have an urgent need to raise £150,000 by September 2025. This target is challenging but attainable with your support as past and present students, staff, parents, governors, friends and supporters of the school.

We invite you to join the Charitable Trust today as a member of the new "2025 Society" with a regular gift. Together, we will secure the education of today's pupils and protect the future of Southend High School for Boys for generations to come.
